A pair of 9ct yellow gold drop earrings, each set with a pear-shaped cabochon gemstone. The stones are of a dark purplish-brown hue with a chatoyant quality. They are held in rub-over settings featuring a millgrain or beaded border around the base. Each drop is suspended from a fan-shaped decorative surmount. The earrings are designed for pierced ears with post and scroll fittings. The reverse of one earring drop bears a series of hallmarks, including the 375 fineness mark, a crown gold standard mark, and the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office. A maker’s mark is present within a rectangular cartouche but is partially illegible. The scroll backs are stamped 375.
