A mid-20th-century glazed ceramic figurine of a polar bear, produced by Eastgate Pottery of Withernsea, East Yorkshire. The bear is modelled in a leaning forward pose upon a textured base designed to represent a frozen ice floe. The piece is finished in a bright white high-gloss glaze with hand-painted black details defining the eyes and nose. The base features subtle pale blue and grey mottled highlights. The underside of the base bears a dark blue printed backstamp with the word ENGLAND positioned above a scrolled rectangular frame containing the manufacturer name EASTGATE.
