A double-strand graduated pearl necklace by Ciro. The necklace features two strands of cream-coloured pearls that are individually knotted and graduate in size towards the centre. These are secured by a rectangular 9-carat yellow gold box clasp with a decorative openwork front and a side safety catch. The reverse of the clasp is stamped with the maker’s mark Ciro in script. It further bears British hallmarks for 9-carat gold including the numeral 9 and decimal .375, the leopard’s head mark for the London assay office, and a date letter u for 1975. The pearls are high-quality simulated pearls, for which the maker Ciro is historically noted.
