A British naval boatswain’s call, also known as a bosun’s pipe, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The piece is constructed from silver-plated white metal and follows a traditional maritime design comprising a gun, keel, and buoy. The curved tube, known as the gun, features two sets of raised double-ringed bands and terminates at a spherical buoy. The buoy is incised with the British government broad arrow mark, or pheon, denoting the item as official military issue property. The gun is soldered to a flat keel which includes a single circular suspension hole intended for a lanyard or chain.
