This lot comprises a 1990 United Kingdom Proof Coin Collection produced by the Royal Mint. The collection is housed in its original dark green presentation case with a corresponding white informational booklet. The set includes a series of coins struck with a proof finish, displaying frosted motifs against mirrored fields. Denominations represented in the set include the fifty pence, twenty pence, ten pence, five pence in both the original large and new smaller formats, two pence, and one penny. The collection also features a one pound coin and a commemorative rectangular black plaque inscribed Elizabeth R 1990 beneath a crown. The reverse designs include Britannia, a Welsh leek within a royal diadem, a crowned Tudor rose, a crowned lion, crowned thistles, the Prince of Wales feathers, and a crowned portcullis. All coins bear the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The coins are composed of various base metal alloys including cupro-nickel, nickel-brass, and bronze.
