A large collection of mid-20th-century British trade cards and themed collector albums, primarily from Brooke Bond and Horniman’s Tea. The lot includes several Brooke Bond Picture Card albums with titles including British Butterflies, The Saga of Ships, History of the Motor Car, Wild Birds in Britain, and two copies of Famous People 1869-1969. The Famous People albums are subtitled 50 of the Greatest Britons, illustrated by Angus McBride and described by Virginia Shankland, with an original printed price of 6d. A substantial volume of loose cards is included, many organised in stacks. Visible sets include a Horniman’s Tea Pets series, which retains its original white paper band identifying it as Series of 48 No. 20, edited by Maxwell Knight. Individual cards from various Brooke Bond series are observable, depicting subjects such as prehistoric animals, British birds including a Waxwing, marine life, and vintage transport.
