A traditional 19th-century bed warmer, also known as a warming pan. The circular pan and hinged lid are constructed from copper, joined with a brass hinge and brass rivets. The lid features chased and engraved decoration consisting of scrolling foliate and floral motifs. Small circular ventilation holes are integrated into the decorative pattern to facilitate heat dissipation from hot coals. The pan is attached to a long, turned wooden handle featuring an ebonised black finish. The handle terminal includes a small metal loop for suspension, currently fitted with a piece of twine. No maker marks or hallmarks are visible on the copper or wooden components.
