This lot comprises eight antique earthenware tiles dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The collection includes four checkered tiles featuring a two-by-two grid of alternating plain maroon glazed squares and ochre-yellow squares with moulded relief floral starburst designs. Two tiles feature a monochromatic amber glaze over a moulded relief pattern of crossed arrows or scepters above a shell motif and stylised foliage, a design attributed to the Campbell Tileworks. Additionally, the group contains two transfer-printed tiles: one in green depicting a central floral bouquet within a cross-hatched border, and another in sepia-brown with a circular arrangement of chrysanthemums. The tiles are of dust-pressed construction with vertical ribbing to the reverse. One tile displays the impressed mark ENGLAND.
