A traditional copper bed warmer, or warming pan, featuring a hinged circular lid. The lid is decorated with hand-chased foliate and scroll motifs and incorporates five circular ventilation holes for heat circulation. The copper pan is attached to a long, turned wooden handle by a copper alloy bracket secured with rivets. The handle displays decorative bead and cove mouldings and terminates in a baluster finial. This style of domestic metalware was a staple in British households during the 18th and 19th centuries. No maker marks or hallmarks are visible on the exterior of the item.
