A Renaissance Revival carved oak hall chair of Sgabello form, dating from the late 19th century. The high, decorative backrest is centred by a pierced foliate and mask motif, flanked by large scrolling volutes and panels featuring chip-carved star patterns. The thick, solid plank seat is bordered with a deeply notched edge. It is raised on four robust legs, each intricately carved with scrolling foliate and acanthus leaf designs, ending in square block feet. The dark-stained oak construction features a backrest inset into the rear of the seat.
