The instrument features a circular wooden frame finished in a bright red paint, fitted with multiple pairs of polished metal jingles. The natural skin head is stretched over the frame and secured by a series of metal upholstery-style tacks with heads finished in a light turquoise paint. The underside of the head bears a blue ink rectangular stamp with the Chinese characters 中华人民共和国制造 and the English text MADE IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA. The item is accompanied by its original illustrated cardboard box, which features the printed word TAMBOURINES, the Chinese characters 花铃鼓, and vertical text reading MADE IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA and 中华人民共和国制造. The Chinese characters 花铃鼓 translate literally to Flower Bell Drum.
