A pair of late 19th-century Victorian porcelain fairings depicting humorous domestic scenes. These figurines were traditionally manufactured as prizes for fairground attractions. The first item is titled The last in bed to put out the light and features a couple in a four-poster bed. The second item is titled Twelve months after marriage. and depicts the same couple in bed accompanied by a young child with a cradle at the bedside. Both pieces are crafted from polychrome glazed porcelain with hand-painted enamel details and gilded accents. The titles are inscribed in script on the front of each base. While no manufacturer marks are visible, these are classic examples of fairings likely produced in Germany for the British market between 1880 and 1900. One base is covered with brown felt.
