A commemorative bell-shaped porcelain decanter released by Arthur Bell and Sons for the 1996 Christmas season. The vessel is constructed from porcelain and finished with a cream-coloured glaze and 22-carat gold gilding. The neck features a gold band with the brand name in maroon lettering. The main body is decorated with a central transfer-printed illustration of a rural scene with a bundle of grain and a scroll reading INGREDIENTS OF QUALITY. Additional gold-tone text reads EXTRA SPECIAL OLD SCOTCH WHISKY. The base is encircled by a gilded band with the maroon inscription CHRISTMAS 1996. This release contains 70cl of 8-year-old blended Scotch whisky at 40 percent volume. While these decanters were traditionally manufactured for Bell’s by Wade Ceramics, no maker mark is visible on the body of the decanter. The item is accompanied by its original red cardboard presentation box.
