A pair of hand-coloured stipple engravings after botanical illustrations by the French artist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840). The first print, titled Calville blanc., depicts a bi-coloured apple and is inscribed P. J. Redouté at the lower left and Bessin at the lower right, identifying the engraver. The second print, titled Poire Tarquin., depicts a pear and is inscribed P. J. Redouté at the lower left and Victor at the lower right. These compositions reflect the refined style of Redouté’s celebrated pomological works. The prints are housed in matching modern, deep, multi-moulded natural wood frames. Plate marks are not visible due to the close framing within the mounts.
Dimensions: 14 x 17 inches.
