An early 20th-century manual autographic cash recording till of British origin. The unit is constructed with a stained hardwood case, likely oak, featuring brass and iron internal components. The mechanism consists of a manual pull-out drawer linked to an internal steel warning bell. A paper roll feed mechanism is housed within the body, designed to advance a recording slip beneath a glass-covered writing aperture located on the lid. The interior of the lid retains a printed paper label headed Instructions, which specifies the use of paper rolls 3 7/8 inches wide and provides operational guidance for securing the till to a counter and renewing the record roll. A brass diamond-shaped escutcheon is fitted around the drawer keyhole. Two adhesive lot stickers bearing the number 1183 are present on the exterior lid.
