A mid-20th-century Banner Model B55 tabletop valve radio receiver, likely dating from the early 1950s. The unit is housed in a wood-veneered cabinet with a dark brown finish. It features a large rectangular speaker aperture to the upper section, covered with a woven gold-tone and black mesh grille cloth. The lower section contains a rectangular black glass tuning dial with yellow and white lettering, listing Short Wave, Medium Wave, and Long Wave bands, alongside a Gramophone setting. The dial includes a tone selector to the left with positions for Treble, Normal, and Bass, and lists numerous UK and European stations including the BBC Third, Light, and Home services, as well as Hilversum, Brussels, and Stockholm. Four brown plastic control knobs are situated below the dial, labeled for Tone, Off/On and Volume, Tuning, and Wavechange. The two outer knobs feature a recessed hexagonal design with a single pointer line.
