This 7-inch tall cylindrical brass vessel is a piece of early 20th-century trench art, fashioned from a large-caliber artillery shell casing. The exterior is decorated with hand-worked repoussé and chased designs featuring a blooming rose on a leafy stem, set against a textured, stippled ground. The upper and lower edges are finished with a scalloped foliate border punctuated by circular motifs. Two cast brass lion-mask mounts are attached to the sides. The machined base of the shell casing is stamped with the number 150, the initials T.L.H, and the letter R. The base contains a central threaded aperture and three smaller mounting holes.
Height: 7 inches.
