A pair of large Continental porcelain figurines modelled in the 18th-century Rococo style. The pair depicts a courtly couple in elaborate period costume, rendered in a palette of cobalt blue and white with gold accents. The male figure is portrayed standing, wearing a cobalt blue frock coat over a white waistcoat and breeches, decorated with blue floral sprigs and gilt detailing. He carries a tricorne hat under his left arm and gestures with his right hand. The female figure is modelled in a matching gown with a ruffled skirt, holding a large fan. Both figures stand on integral, scroll-moulded bases embellished with applied ceramic flowers and gilt-edged rocaille work. The figurines are crafted from glazed porcelain with hand-painted floral motifs and extensive gilding to the clothing and bases. No manufacturer marks or backstamps are visible on the bases. A small white paper label is attached to the reverse of the male figure.
Male figure height: 30 cm
Female figure height: 23 cm.
