This lot comprises two vintage cast iron No. 4 smoothing planes, manufactured in England by Record and Stanley respectively.
The first plane is a Record No. 4 model featuring a cast iron body with its characteristic blue-painted finish. The lever cap is cast with the letters RECORD, and the base casting at the toe is also marked RECORD. Behind the rear handle, the base is cast with the words MADE IN ENGLAND. It is fitted with a wooden tote and front knob.
The second plane is a Stanley No. 4 model with a cast iron body and a black-painted finish. The lever cap displays the STANLEY logo in a rectangular frame with a red and orange background. The base casting at the toe is marked No 4, and behind the rear handle, the base is cast with MADE IN ENGLAND. Like the Record plane, it features a wooden tote and front knob.
Both tools are complete with their respective irons, chip breakers, and adjustment mechanisms. They represent standard mid-20th-century English production of common woodworking tools.
