This portrait of a Balinese woman, identified as Ni Gusti Tuwi, is by the artist Willem Gerard Hofker. The work is executed in chalk and pastel on wove paper and depicts the subject in traditional Balinese attire with a large circular headpiece and a floral lei. The piece is signed lower right: W.G. Hofker, Bali, 1943, with additional handwritten inscriptions identifying the sitter. The drawing is mounted within a dark green double-window mount that includes a printed label reading Willem Gerard Hofker (1902 – 1981) Potraitof Miss Ni Gusti Tuwi, 1943. The whole is presented in a polished reddish-brown wood frame.
