A pair of United Kingdom Brilliant Uncirculated coin collections produced by the Royal Mint, dated 1987 and 1989. Each set is presented in its original cream-coloured card commemorative folder with a clear plastic insert housing the full range of circulating denominations for the respective year. The coins are struck in base metals, including white metal and yellow metal alloys. The 1989 set displays the Scottish thistle reverse design by Leslie Durbin on the one pound coin, while all obverses feature the third definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf. The 1987 folder is printed with 1987 UNITED KINGDOM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED COIN COLLECTION and a cursive Royal Mint logo alongside an acorn and leaf motif. The 1989 folder is printed with 1989 UNITED KINGDOM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED COIN COLLECTION, a heraldic crest, and the same cursive Royal Mint logo.
