Another Great Auction
A part dinner service of English transfer-printed earthenware produced by Booths of Tunstall, Staffordshire. The pieces are manufactured from Silicon China, a durable ironstone-type body developed by the company. Each item is decorated in the Real Old Willow pattern, a variation of the classic Willow design featuring pavilions, a bridge with three figures, a boat, and two birds in flight. This specific version is distinguished by scalloped rims and hand-applied gilt highlights to the borders, handles, and lid finials. The collection includes a large oval serving platter, graduated medium oval platters, a large twin-handled lidded soup tureen with an ornate finial, a smaller twin-handled lidded vegetable tureen, twin-handled sauce boats, and multiple dinner plates, side plates, saucers, and small bowls of various sizes. Most pieces bear a blue transfer-printed backstamp on the underside with the word BOOTHS curved above a crown, SILICON CHINA, MADE IN ENGLAND, and Real Old Willow in cursive script. Some items also feature hand-painted marks in red, appearing as V1123, alongside impressed numerical marks.
