Another Great Auction
A pair of porcelain bottle vases, decorated in the Chinese style often associated with Nanking or Canton crackleware. Each piece features underglaze blue decoration depicting stylised floral heads, such as peonies or chrysanthemums, amongst dense scrolling foliage. The entire surface is covered in a crackle glaze with deliberate dark staining within the fissures to highlight the crazing. The form consists of a globular body leading to a tall, waisted neck and a flared rim. The visible base shows an unglazed, rounded footrim typical of export porcelain from the late Qing dynasty or early Republic period. No maker’s marks or reign marks are visible.
