An assortment of mid-20th-century paper collectibles and specialty items. The primary historical item is a framed bank cheque from Messrs. Coutts & Co., No. 000021, dated London, 6th March 1952. The cheque is made payable to Thomas Ward & Sons, Ltd. for the sum of fifty-seven pounds, nine shillings, and two pence (£57–9s–2d). It is signed by Ulick Alexander (Sir James Ulick Francis Canning Alexander, Keeper of the Privy Purse) and bears the manuscript notation o/a. Executors o/w. of His Late Majesty King George VI. The document includes a printed IE TWO PENCE revenue stamp.
The lot features an extensive collection of vintage postcards, predominantly dating from the early to mid-20th century. Subjects include French architectural views such as Liessies (Nord) – L’Église et son Carillon, Soire-le-Château – Église et Place Verte, and Église Ste-Waudru (Mons). Noted publishers include L. Couture of Hautmont and Édition Halbecque. The postcards include hand-tinted floral designs, portraits, and several examples with contemporary French stamps and handwritten correspondence.
