This collection comprises a variety of mid-20th-century printed materials and associated containers. The primary volume is the Coronation Souvenir Book 1937, attributed to Gordon Beckles, featuring gold-coloured textured cloth boards with a blue and gilt embossed royal crown emblem. Included is a promotional booklet titled The Legend behind the name with blue paper wrappers and a trireme graphic, and a German hotel brochure for Schlosshotel Kronberg / Taunus with a heraldic crest and period telephone numbers. The ephemera includes several Mackintosh’s Week-End Chocolates & Candies advertising cards, an abstract geometric card with architectural motifs, a black and white linocut-style print of a badger, and various hand-drawn cartoon illustrations of cowboys. A material specimen from Bancroft & Partners is present, showing a black puppet glove fabric with a red star. The items are housed in a small, brown, distressed leather-style briefcase. Also included is a large corrugated cardboard shipping box featuring printed labels for the Daily Express Manchester and the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER), with a transit label for King’s Cross.
