A collection of assorted brooches and pins from the twentieth century, featuring a variety of figural, floral, and geometric designs.
The figural animal pieces comprise a textured gold-tone lizard set with clear round-cut stones along the spine; a polished gold-tone frog with a large oval faceted green paste body and clear stone eyes; an ornate openwork butterfly set with multi-coloured stones including a central turquoise-coloured cabochon; a textured dragonfly set with clear and blue stones; and a sinuous polished gold-tone snake with clear stone eyes.
Floral and foliate designs include a poppy-form brooch pavé-set with red and black faceted stones; a maple leaf brooch with a graduated brown and orange enamel-effect finish and a stone-set stem; a hand-painted ceramic brooch depicting roses and forget-me-nots; and a stylized foliate spray set with clear stones.
The collection is completed by a large textured ribbon bow brooch; a smaller two-tone silver and gold-tone bow pavé-set with clear stones; a tiered concentric heart brooch; a tapered bar brooch set with clear stones; and a silver-tone stick pin with a butterfly finial set with white faux pearls. Construction materials across the lot include gold-tone and silver-tone base metals, paste stones, enamel, and ceramic. Pin mechanisms include standard pins with safety catches, a stick pin, and a clutch back.
