A three-piece Victorian ceramic wash set manufactured by Middleport Pottery (Burgess & Leigh) in the Ecton pattern. The set consists of a large wash basin, a matching pitcher or ewer, and a smaller beaker or toothbrush holder. Each piece is constructed from earthenware with a cream-coloured glaze and decorated with blue transfer-printed designs. The Ecton pattern features Neo-classical architectural motifs, including stylised columns and swags, interspersed with floral bouquets and sprigs. The pitcher features a waisted body with an ornate scrolled handle and a wide pouring lip. The basin is of deep circular form with a wide, flared rim, and the beaker is of slightly waisted cylindrical form with a flared, lobed rim. The base of the items bears a blue transfer mark for Middleport Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, with the pattern name Ecton and a central monogram.
