A Royal Doulton hand-painted ceramic character figurine depicting the Shakespearean character Sir John Falstaff. The figure is modelled in a characteristic rotund form, standing with hands on hips, wearing a red tunic, brown jerkin, and grey hose on a textured base. This 4 inch tall figurine is the smaller scale version of the design originally created by Cecil Jack Noke. The base features a green printed Royal Doulton factory mark with a lion atop a crown, the model reference HN 3236, and the title FALSTAFF. It includes the printed script signature of the designer and a copyright notice dated 1949. A small hand-painted decorator mark in black reading SY is also present.
