A Victoria Ware ironstone ginger jar of globular form with a short neck and a matching domed lid. The exterior is decorated with a repeating scalloped or fish-scale pattern. Each scale features a pale yellow ground with a deliberate crackle effect, centred with a stylised blue and white foliate motif. The scales are outlined with bands of underglaze blue and overglaze iron-red. The interior of both the jar and the lid is finished with a solid brown glaze. The base of the jar features an underglaze blue transfer-printed mark depicting a royal coat of arms with a lion and unicorn, a ribbon banner inscribed VICTORIA WARE, and the word IRONSTONE positioned vertically below.
