A circular silver-plated dish produced by Elkington and Co for the Cunard Line shipping company. The piece features a shallow central well and a tiered, reeded rim. The base is stamped with the pattern number 35942, a crown symbol, and a shield containing the characters E and Co, followed by three small shield marks and the text ELKINGTON PLATE. It is further marked ENGLAND with the date letter U within a shield, corresponding to 1931. To the right is the Cunard Line crest depicting a rampant lion holding a crown above the word CUNARD. This type of functionalist tableware was designed for durability and service on board ocean liners.
