The item features a detachable domed cover with decorative perforations and is surmounted by a knop finial. The body is engraved with the house flag and banner for the Port Line shipping company. The base is struck with the pattern number 24787 and a crest. Below are four individual marks in shields comprising a crown symbol, E, &, and Co. Further marks include ELKINGTON PLATE, ENGLAND, and the date letter S in a shield.
