An early 20th-century Smoker’s Bow or Captain’s armchair constructed from stained beech and elm. The chair features a broad, horseshoe-shaped crest rail supported by seven turned spindles, leading to shaped arms on turned supports. It is built with a solid elm saddle seat and stands on four stout, ring-turned legs joined by a simple H-stretcher. This style is characteristic of late Victorian and Edwardian vernacular furniture. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the piece.
