A trio of matching framed crewel work embroidery panels on a pale grey-green textile ground, worked from designs by Edelfrau Lindhorst. Each panel depicts native British ornithological and botanical subjects. The first panel features a Bullfinch perched on a log accompanied by blackberries, oak leaves, and a detailed spider’s web. The second panel displays a Blue Tit and a smaller bird on a thorny branch with rosehips, mushrooms, and tall grasses. The third panel shows two Robins amongst holly berries, ivy, and white Hellebores, also known as Christmas Roses. The needlework employs various techniques including satin and stem stitching to create texture in the feathers and foliage. One panel is vertically embroidered on the lower right with the initials MHS and the date 1994. The set is housed in matching contemporary gilt-effect frames with a thin beaded inner edge, set within deep forest-green mounts and protected by glazing.
