Buyer's Premium:

A collection of commemorative and decorative ceramic wares, primarily focused on Methodist history and the life of John Wesley. The lot includes a variety of forms such as mugs, tea cups, saucers, plates, and a small decorative vase. The items are constructed from a mix of fine bone china and earthenware.

The commemorative pieces feature monochrome transfer-printed designs in black, sepia, blue, and red/purple. Notable inscriptions include Trinity Methodist Church Penarth 100 Years 1890-1990, Wesley Memorial Church Epworth, and a large plate commemorating the tercentenary of John Wesley (1703-2003) featuring his portrait and scenes from his life. Another plate is inscribed for the Teachers Mutual Aid and features a central illustration of a Bible. Several plates feature reticulated or pierced borders with moulded basketweave patterns.

The collection also includes a small white porcelain vase of baluster form with a flared, scalloped rim and moulded foliate details to the body. It is decorated with polychrome transfer-printed floral sprays and butterflies. Several items in the lot are finished with gilt detailing to the rims.
