This set of six promotional figurines was produced for James Robertson and Sons. The collection depicts a jazz band, with each figure playing a different musical instrument including a guitar, saxophone, drums, and trumpets. The figures are constructed from painted plaster or composition material. Each character is dressed in a blue tuxedo jacket, white shirt, red bow-tie, and red trousers, standing on square black bases. The name ROBERTSON is printed in gold-toned characters on the side of each base. The underside of the bases features a circular red and white adhesive label printed with HAND PAINTED and FOREIGN. These mascots were used as promotional items for Robertson’s preserves during the mid-20th century.
