A silver brooch designed in the form of a French horn or coiled hunting horn. The piece features a flared bell and representations of the internal valves and tubing within a circular frame. The reverse of the circular tubing is stamped with an oval punch containing the numerals 835, indicating a silver fineness of .835, a standard commonly used in Continental Europe. A second, rectangular maker’s mark is present but is too worn to be identified. The brooch is secured with a hinged metal pin and a simple C-clasp.
