A Victorian sterling silver bonbon dish of circular form featuring a scalloped rim with alternating shell and scroll motifs. The body is decorated with embossed floral and foliate sprays interspersed with three panels of pierced trellis work. The centre of the bowl contains a plain circular cartouche within a decorative scroll and foliate border. The item bears full English hallmarks on the underside of the rim including the maker mark RP for Robert Pringle and Sons, the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard head for the London assay office, and the date letter a for 1896.
