A ceramic bell-shaped decanter for Bell’s Old Scotch Whisky, issued as the second instalment of the Great Scottish Inventors series for Christmas 2002. The decanter is finished in a dark burgundy glaze with gilded banding and accents. It features a central circular vignette depicting a portrait of James Watt, flanked by the dates 1736 and 1819. The gilded shoulder band is inscribed with the name BELL’S, and the base band is inscribed with GREAT SCOTTISH INVENTORS. The neck bears a seal with an 8 YEARS age statement. The lot includes the original cardboard presentation box, which identifies the contents as 40% vol and 70cl.
