Two antique metal vesta cases. The first is a silver-toned example of rectangular form with rounded corners, decorated with engraved foliate and scrollwork motifs surrounding a central vacant rectangular cartouche. It is fitted with a side-mounted suspension ring and a hinged lid. The second case is finished in a gold-toned metal and exhibits a diagonal gadrooned pattern on the body with matching lobed detailing on the ends. Both cases are constructed with hinged lids and feature striking surfaces to the base. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible.
