An antique fireplace trivet constructed from cast brass and iron. The piece features a shield-shaped front plate with pierced openwork, displaying elaborate scrollwork and stylized foliate motifs. A central threaded adjustment rod terminates in a rounded brass knob, used to secure the stand. The reverse is fitted with two flat, rectangular iron legs intended for mounting to a fireplace grate or fender. The design reflects 18th-century styles common in hearth furniture.
