A vintage mid-20th century wooden storage or transport box, explicitly dated 1956. The box is constructed of wood painted dark gray-green and features a worn leather carrying handle secured by metal fittings. The front is secured by a metal clasp exhibiting heavy oxidation, stamped with an illegible maker’s mark (possibly “CHERIE”). The interior is lined with light brown felt and suede-like material and is divided into eight separate compartments arranged in a 2×4 grid. The box currently houses eight items, consisting of seven small objects wrapped in brown paper and one clear glass component (likely a lens or small vial). Visible markings on the exterior closed lid include the numbers “5G/310,” while the inner rim bears “5G/192.” Detailed internal text includes the inscriptions “CONT. A 245524/56/C. 12(A)” and the date “1956.”
