Another Great Auction 20th November
A Vintage Gilbert Microscope Set, comprising an upright compound microscope with a dark brown/grey metallic body and a UK-style electrical plug. The lot includes a red cardboard box labeled “Instant Prepared Slides Making Set for Young Scientists” (bearing a “£50” sticker), containing blank slides and vials filled with microscopy reagents such as Methylene Blue, Eosin, Canada Balsam, Glycerine Jelly, and Gum Chloral. Additionally, there are two red-trimmed cardboard boxes/trays housing numerous prepared microscope slides. Many of these slides are clearly labeled “INSECTA,” “Prepared in England,” “N.B.S.,” and identify various specimens including Wasp, Fly, Spider, Pollen, Hydracarina Water Mite, Chironomid Worm, Honey Bee, Fossil Spores, Hemiptera Water Mite Nymph, Conifer Leaf, and Mitrocides.
