Another Great Auction 20th November
A Sadler ‘The Old Forge’ novelty teapot. This ceramic teapot is whimsically styled as a multi-colored, thatched-roof building with brick walls, blue-paned windows, a green door, and a prominent brick chimney. The main body features a detailed illustration of a blacksmith shoeing a horse within the forge, consistent with the title ‘The Old Forge’ visible on the front base and repeated on the underside. The base is further marked with ‘REG. DESIGN,’ ‘SADLER,’ ‘MADE IN ENGLAND,’ and ‘NO. 2026098,’ along with a descriptive text that reads: ‘The bright glow of fire, the sound of bellows, the firey red iron being smitten by the mighty smith on his anvil, working his craft creating objects of art in iron, an important part of village life for centuries.’
