Another Great Auction 20th November
A Pair of advertising mirrors, comprising a ‘Mercedes Edwardian Tourer 1908’ mirror and a ‘Southern Comfort’ mirror. The ‘Mercedes Edwardian Tourer 1908’ mirror depicts a vintage automobile in white and green with a lamppost, and bears a visible sticker marked “2183.” The ‘Southern Comfort’ mirror features the slogan “The Grand Old Drink of the South” and text indicating it was “Made on the Banks of the Mississippi in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. BY SOUTHERN COMFORT CORPORATION,” alongside “REG U.S. PAT. OFF.” and “80 PROOF.” It illustrates a nostalgic, pastoral riverside scene with a paddle steamer, a grand house, and horse-drawn carriages. Both mirrors are presented in wooden frames.
