This substantial wooden crucifix features a carved corpus of Christ affixed to a dark-stained wood cross, which is mounted on a tiered pedestal base adorned with brass-toned metal trim. The corpus, rendered in a traditional devotional style, is carved from a lighter, natural-toned wood, showing detailed anatomical features and a draped perizoma. Above the corpus, an angled wooden plaque bears the carved or painted inscription “I.N.R.I.”, which translates from Latin as “Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum” (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews).
