This antique, round wooden box features a fitted lid, crafted from a hardwood, likely oak, exhibiting a prominent grain. Recessed into the center of the lid is a slightly domed metal plaque, possibly silver or pewter, which is engraved with the initials “W.H.G.” above the year “1850,” and further initials “J.T.H.” below. The object’s design and materials are consistent with mid-19th century craftsmanship.
