A traditional agricultural scythe of 19th century? design, featuring a curved hardwood? snath, likely ash. The snath is fitted with two adjustable wooden grips, known as nibs, which are secured to the main handle by metal collar bands. The long, curved ferrous metal blade is attached to the base of the snath with a metal mounting bracket and iron hardware. The tool displays a weathered, natural patina throughout the wooden components and heavy surface oxidation to the metal surfaces, consistent with age and agricultural use.
